To help get the forum going, since I (Rhett Coles 76' , younger brother to Ron (MOOSE) Coles 69') have been invited as guest D.J. for the reunion, I would like any input on music that you may want to hear at the reunion. I know for some of you older class member's, trying to remember that far back will be hard but I'm sure with a little effort you may be able to remember at least one of your favorite songs back from when things where "groovy". Being that I am from the "younger" generation I prefer Marilyn Manson(Ha! Ha! yeah right!), over The Grass Roots, but Hey! It's your reunion. Can't wait to see all of you at the reunion!! Rhett
I would like to see a good mix of R & R from the 60's through the 80's and maybe even a little country as long as it is not the whiney, nasal, crying in your PBR stuff. A good mix of fast and slow songs to keep the dancers on the floor. Even though all of us now qualify for AARP benefits we can still get our groove on, and bust an occasional move on the dance floor. However the next morning we just need to take lots of ibuprofen with our decaf coffee and bran muffins.
The Temptations, the Stones, the Zombies, Archie Bell and the ???????, Al Green, Wilson Pickett, the Stylistics, and the Beach Boys. Your brother, Ronald, asked me to request the Ricky Martin BoyBanders for him.
Let's see......music I'd like to hear. How about Steppenwolf, Chicago, The Monkeys, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Three Dog Night, Procol Harum (A Whiter Shade of Pale), The Racsals, The Eagles, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Diana Ross and the Supremes, did I mention Chicago?
Ok, How about Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Beatles, Jefferson Starship, Pointer Sisters, Ike and Tina Turner, The Byrds, Grateful Dead, Simon & Garfunkel, The Guess Who...........did I mention Chicago?
OK Dude, you asked for it! Let's not leave out the heads here.... Think about the late 60's early 70's..... OK, That's enough thinking. How about some Grateful Dead? Some Quicksilver Messenger Service would be nice too. And don't forget, there are people generating music today that have their head in the right place too. Warren Haynes comes to mind. His efforts with The Dead are unparalleled, and let's not leave out his band, Government Mule! Let's also not leave out Dave Matthews Band, which Warren also performed with in NY. If you need some musical direction for the evening, please don't wait until that evening. Let us know and contact me! This is going to be one hell of an evening and I hope like hell you have it dialed. Hell man, we ain't gettin' any younger! More than happy to help, just let me know.
I have been to your shows and they are a lot of fun and run in the most professional manner. I think you should decide what is best for us. You have the experience and know what will work. Music we can dance and sing to will be the best and you know what those songs are. I am very happy to hear you are working our reunion. Is your brother going to be there.
I want to hear some Helen Reddy. I also want you to play the Coors Light commercial "Love Train". I do not know who did that song, but that would be very appropriate at about 11 PM and all of us get up and have a "love train" around the dance floor or maybe around the Westin Hotel!
